We like this quite Ocelot

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we've been hungover in work for two days now. These are due to events such as the launch of 'Frat Party' at Ghetto in London on Monday (rubbish) and The Go! Team/Operator Please playing at the Astoria on Tuesday (amazing).

We've tried coffee, we've tried more booze and we've tried huge quantities of painkillers but there is only one thing that is getting us through the week so far and that is a band called Ocelot.

More specifically their track 'This Is Our Time'. It's one of the greatest songs of 2007.

Calling Ocelot a band may be pushing it a bit, these are two DJs from 'somewhere' in the UK. Where doesn't matter, it's the what that is important.

The what is that they have worked as remixers for Switches and Dragonette – turning the latter's largely dull album track 'Competition' into something deserving of the single release their label has prepared for the song.

'This Is Our Time', like the work of so many others, harks back to Daft Punk circa 2000. When they went to space. However, while Daft Punk went to space to kidnap blue aliens Ocelot went to space, took enormous quantities of drugs and came back to tell the tale. Albeit after they remembered where they parked the rocket.

It is an incredible tune which has basically made the past two days a little more bearable. We are going to see them play with the quite stupendous The Whip at the start of November. We can't wait, quite frankly, and the lyrics of 'This Is Our Time' sums up our approach to that night.

Listen to 'This Is Our Time' at Ocelot's MySpace page.
