Lots of exciting things happen in France: bike races, snail eating, guillotining...
But the most exciting thing of all has to be Kitsune.
The record label was working with the likes of Digitalism, The Whip and Simian Mobile Disco long before Top Shop even thought of selling neon hoodies.
As well as having a keen eye for amazing bands, they are also known for releasing mix tapes of lots of cool music which isn’t cool (yet) cool music which is already cool and uncool music which by mixing with it's companions becomes very cool indeed.
Kitsune Boombox is the latest collection to have been burnt onto CDs, put in a shiny case and shipped out to the shops for us to swap our bits of paper with the queen on for.
And as they’ve gone to all that trouble it’s only fair that we buy it, right? Where else will you find Siobhan Donaghy warbling alongside S-Express, Chromeo and Daft Punk? There’s also tracks from Rex The Dog and Young Punx who we should all be listening to. Thank you Kitsune. Let’s all move to France. ‘Good moaning’ etc...
Kitsune Boombox is released this week. Treat yourself.
